Maxi Security was established in 1991 by Danie and Michelle de Villiers, and has grown from the initial 11 employees to currently having 4000 employees and learners. 

In May 2004, our Black Empowerment company was formed with Phillip Makhubela and Thandeka Mandindi holding 55% shareholding in the new company, named Maxi Phumelela Security (Pty) Ltd. Sadly, Phillip Makhubela passed away in December 2010, and his shareholding has been purchased by Ackim Dube, with effect from 1 February 2011. The group is proud to have been awarded the B-BBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment) verification status of a Level Three Contributor, at a B-BBEE Procurement Recognition Level of 110% (Certificate Number MAS 00285-GREV1). 

The group has established itself as a leading security service provider in Gauteng, Tshwane, Mpumalanga, Polokwane, North West, and Cape Town. We have grown through strategic acquisitions, and have cultivated a stable client base, many of which are blue chip companies. The Maxi Security Group currently services clients in the corporate, retail, industrial, and gaming sectors, as well as metropolitan councils and parastatal organizations. 

The Maxi Security Group is registered with SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Authority) and is a member of SSEO (South African Security Employers Organisation). Notwithstanding our SASSETA (Safety & Security Skills Education Training Authority) accreditation and learners awarded to Maxi Security, our sustainable social projects, funded by ourselves, have provided a platform for the group to uplift the disadvantaged in rural areas. We currently have projects running in the rural communities of Shosonguve, Ekangala, one of which is at the Strauss Secondary School in Ekangala. 

We are a proudly South African company which has transformed as a result of intensive succession training as well as the integration of experienced black managers, resulting in a thoroughly motivated management structure. We have always had a policy of promoting from within, and of meaningfully empowering our workforce. Over the years, the group has purchased a block of flats to provide accommodation for security officers and their families. Furthermore, together with our Union, we have established a provident fund whereby our staff enjoy funeral and death benefits. Management participates in a meaningful profit-sharing scheme, which is driven on a performance assessment basis with specific emphasis on client and staff retention.

We plan to grow our business by developing our people, continuously innovating, being pro-active in everything we do, and providing services tailored to our client’s individual needs. We strive to forge long-term relationships with our clients, and add value to their organizations, by adopting a holistic approach to our service offering, ie. qualified security personnel, supported by the latest technology, contracted service level agreements, written reporting, and hands on management support.
